T’s battle hard but are eventually overpowered by big, I mean big, Beaufort outfit

On only the second week of the season (holidays in September? Who thunk it?!), a depleted Old T’s side met for a positive warm up. As the coaching staff appraised a big ‘I mean big’ Beaufort side, there was a little concern that the visitors didn’t have a lot in reserve.

Predictably, the home side started powerfully, and despite some determined defence Beaufort scored two early tries from solid scrums and driving line outs.

As relentless pressure cause the penalty count to drift ever upwards in favour a the men to the North, there came some relief. A welcome interception try from captain Baz.

A further Beaufort score left the count at 19-7 for the interval.

The second half started with a purple patch for the visitors.  Baz took advantage of a dog leg in the Beaufort defends to break from half way and slice past the defensive full back. Morgan did well to convert from the touch line.

However, the Beaufort response was brutal, immediate and efficient. After a quick reply, the home side added another try from an unopposed rolling maul. Perhaps the tiredness of the T’s was showing in their defensive decision making.

A proud backs to the wall effort from the T’s, who will no doubt hope that with players returning will add some much needed 2nd half depth.

Website Man of the Match: Baz. An absolutely tireless display, often making consecutive tackles. How he made two long range tries too still baffles this observer).
